One card for Jordan-day (January 6th)

The name Jordan is one of the most popular male names in Bulgaria. Perhaps because of this Jordan-day is one of the most celebrated and respected holidays in the Bulgarian national calendar. On this day, the Orthodox Church celebrates the baptizing of Jesus Christ by John the Baptist at the river Jordan. The blessing of water is performed on this holiday, during which everyone is present. After the service, the priest throws the cross in a nearby body of water, such as a lake or river, and all young men dive in to attempt to take it back out. The first one to find it and take it out can expect health and happiness for the whole year. If the cross freezes or the weather is dry and cold, the year will be good and fruitful. There is also a tradition of everyone washing their hands and face at the place where the cross is thrown for health.
